Introduction

On December 31, 2022, Decree No. 91 of the Ministry of Health was published in the Official Gazette, extending the validity of Decree No. 4, which decrees a sanitary alert for the period indicated and grants extraordinary powers for a public health emergency of international importance (ESPII) due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus (2019-NCOV). This decree extends the period of validity of the Health Alert issued by the Ministry of Health to address the COVID-19 pandemic until March 31, 2023.

It should be noted that this Health Alert has been in effect since February 2020, and is the one that has allowed the Government to address the pandemic, as it grants extraordinary powers to the various agencies under the Ministry of Health, in order that they can take the necessary measures, in a timely manner, to control the spread of COVID-19 and its effects.
