On March 23, 2023, Decree No. 10 of the Ministry of Health was published in the Official Gazette, extending the validity of Decree No. 4 of 2020, which decrees a Health Alert for the period indicated and grants extraordinary powers for a public health emergency of international importance (ESPII) due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus (2019-NCOV). This decree extends the period of validity of the Health Alert issued by the Ministry of Health to address the COVID-19 pandemic until August 31, 2023.

It should be noted that this Health Alert has been in effect since February 2020, and is the one that has allowed the Government to face the pandemic, since it grants extraordinary powers to the different agencies under the Ministry of Health, so that they can adopt the necessary measures, in a timely manner, in order to control the spread of COVID-19 and its effects.

The extension of the Health Alert also includes respiratory viruses circulating simultaneously with SARS-CoV-2, such as adenovirus, influenza, syncytial, among others.
